The Pursuit of YLOO

 The Pursuit of YLOO

He was the kind of colleague everyone admired. Sharp-witted and hardworking, he was a man who got things done. But beneath his polished exterior lay a question that consumed him—a search for what it meant to truly live.

He had everything most people dream of. Born into a wealthy family, he had traveled the world, indulged in the finest luxuries, and built a life filled with vibrant mornings and memorable evenings. Yet, something was missing. The concept of "YLOO" fascinated him. You Live Only Once. But what did that mean? Was it about adventure, success, or simply experiencing life to its fullest?

Though small in stature, he carried himself with a confidence that made his height irrelevant. People often joked about it, but he laughed along, his mind always preoccupied with his search for meaning.

His Restlessness Within

Even as if he will climb the corporate ladder, his achievements will feel hollow. He will have a knack for turning challenges into successes, yet he couldn't shake the feeling that he was chasing someone else’s dreams. While others envied his jet-setting lifestyle and lavish evenings, he envied their contentment.

“Why do you work so hard? You have everything!” a colleague once asked him.

“I’m not working for what I have,” he replied cryptically. “I’m working to find what I don’t, like Yacht at some sea shore.

The question of YLOO gnawed at him. Was it about living boldly, or was it something quieter, more subtle?

The Turning Point

One day, while attending a corporate retreat, he found himself alone on a beach at sunrise. The scene was picture-perfect: waves lapping gently at the shore, the sky ablaze with hues of orange and pink. But instead of feeling awe, he felt emptiness.

It was then that he met an old fisherman and it was me. I was wrinkled, barefoot, and carried a net over his shoulder. Despite his humble appearance, I radiated a serenity that intrigued him.

“What brings you here?” I asked!

“I’m looking for something,” he admitted.

I chuckled. “You’ve been looking in the wrong places. People think they find meaning in faraway lands, but it’s always within.”

Intrigued, he spent the day with me, learning about his simple life. The man had no wealth, no grand adventures, but he had peace. He found joy in the small things—his morning catch, his family’s laughter, the rhythm of the tides.

The Journey Within

Inspired by me , he began to shift his focus. He realized that YLOO wasn’t about accumulating experiences or possessions but about finding meaning in the everyday.

Back at work, he started mentoring younger colleagues, sharing not just his professional expertise but also lessons on life. He spent more time with his family, appreciating their quirks and stories.

He also embraced his love for travel differently. Instead of chasing luxury, he sought connection—listening to strangers’ stories, understanding their struggles, and finding beauty in their resilience.

The Revelation

Years later, he stood before a group of interns at a company seminar.

“YLOO,” he began, “isn’t about living recklessly or extravagantly. It’s about living meaningfully. It’s not the places you’ve been or the things you own, but the lives you touch and the joy you create for yourself and others.”

The interns listened intently, captivated not by his words but by the sincerity behind them.

He might have been short in stature, but he stood tall in the eyes of those who knew him. His search for YLOO had transformed him into a man of purpose, proof that a fulfilled life isn’t measured in miles traveled or riches amassed—it’s measured in moments truly lived.
